RM’s First 100 Percent Nebbiolo wins Gold at Tri-Valley Conservancy Uncorked Wine Competition
A second entry, our 2012 Il Regalo, wins Silver
LIVERMORE, Calif. -April 16, 2016- Rodrigue Molyneaux Estate Winery and Vineyard (RM Winery) won a Gold medal for its first 100 percent Nebbiolo ever and a Silver for a blend with Nebbiolo, the 2012 Il Regalo, at the 2016 Tri Valley Conservancy’s Uncorked Wine Competition.
Nebbiolo, “fog” in Italian, makes up the great Barolos and Barbarescos of Italy. RM Winery sources its Nebbiolo from a 1-acre vineyard across the street from our own 5-acre vineyard.
With notes of rose petal and strawberry, our 2012 Nebbiolo goes wonderfully with any Italian fare because of its racy acidity and subtle floral profile.
Nebbiolo also plays a supporting role in the lush 2012 Il Regalo blend, an example of RM Winery’s niche in marrying Italian and French Bordeaux varietals. Il Regalo is 50 percent Petit Verdot, 25 percent Nebbiolo and 25 percent Cabernet Franc. A creamy mouth-feel is filled with blackberry, brown sugar and sweet tobacco flavors.
