“This is a real find” are four words that we hear again and again from visitors in the tasting room. What they find, wandering a mile drive down a country road, is a serene and calming oasis. They choose one of our many secluded tables, head to the rustic tasting room, grab a bottle of our esteemed Italian or Bordeaux wine, bring out the picnic faire and escape to our exclusive gardens. That is the ambiance enveloping this working winery and vineyard that will delight your family and friends.

The winery’s journey began over 20 years ago when the owners planted the vineyard. Historically a vineyard grew on this land in the late 19th century, inspiring the Rodrigues to build on the tradition. Since their philosophy is that great wine starts in the vineyard, they farm with a “hands on” approach, including lots of sweat and tears. It is their passion and the intent to farm grapes in their own vineyard and within the Livermore Valley appellation. This unique region has one of the best wine growing areas in the world, and our grapes thrive in that terroir. Cooling breezes fill the hills from the Bay in the summer evening and balance the hot sun-drenched days.

The hands-on pattern continues in the RM Winery’s winemaking. The entire vineyard is hand-picked and harvested at peak ripeness and the grapes are crushed and pressed on site. We emphasize small lot fermentation followed by patient aging in oak barrels. Our winemaker carefully tends the barrels, adjusting the wine as needed, and selecting the final blends. The result is superior wine that expresses our grapes and embodies the essence of our appellation’s terroir.

So, with a glass in hand of our estate Italian Barbera or perhaps an estate French Petit Verdot, gather yourself and guests at an outdoor table, admire the California-centric garden and take in the vista of mist shrouded Mount Diablo in the distance. Then stay for a while – a life well-lived.
